The only enemy that can drop steel is the Tomb Guard, which has a 25% chance of doing so. Like iron, steel can be dropped by enemies, though it is much rarer. While this is the main way to obtain these steel and titanium, it isn't the only way. Refining eight iron ingots will create one steel ingot after 50 seconds, while refining four steel ingots for one minute and 15 seconds will yield one titanium rod. In the exact same vein as above, steel and titanium can be attained from refining metal in a smelter. To fuel it for 25 seconds, you can use plant matter (provides five seconds of fuel each), scrap wood (provides 15 seconds of fuel each), or wood (provides 40 seconds of fuel each).

Throwing 12 pieces of scrap metal into the smelter will create one iron ingot after 25 seconds. Smelters can be found in a few select places around the world, all of which require the gas mask to reach: If you've found that you've accumulated a lot of scrap metal during your playthrough but don't know what to do with it, it can actually be thrown into a smelter to refine into iron. Similarly, it can be found as loot in buried treasures or timed crates around the world, so keep an eye out for those as you play. The most valuable object to dismantle for iron is the sawmill, which will drop 30.Īside from dismantling pieces of metal, you can also get iron from enemy drops:

Usually, these items will drop between one and two iron, though larger things like basketball hoops, mall signs, tent frames, and metal gates can drop four or more. Iron typically comes from smaller metal objects, such as lockers, sinks, hydrants, appliances, signs, and other objects of roughly these sizes. This works not only for iron, but also for the stronger metals and other materials like plant matter and wood. Most of everything you can find around the world can be dismantled to attain resources like metal. There are plenty of ways to find iron in Dysmantle, though the most efficient way is by dismantling. The most common way to get steel and titanium requires you to first collect iron.

How to Get Metal in Dysmantle How to Get Iron We've also included coordinates to help you find these resources faster. Timber drops in droves from barn walls, barn support beams, wood piles, bookshelves, etc.In this Dysmantle guide, we'll explain how to get all three. You shouldn't have to look that far for timber, nor use the sawmill. Originally posted by Darke:That's going to be irritating. which can all be broken by the upgraded axe Timber drops in droves from barn walls, barn support beams, wood piles, bookshelves, etc. I'm generally fine with bugs, but this is the first time I've actually had to grind in the game (by the time I got the Axe upgrade, I had enough materials to +5 it immediately for example) so I think the progression is a little out of whack in this new area. I'm about half way through level 23, and most of that level was just chopping-wood and associated things so I'll likely have enough XP for level 25 by grinding through at least another 20 timber. I made 30 timber out of basically my entire collection of scrap and normal wood bits from the entire game, and I ported back to an earlier area just to chop trees and I think I've got about another 10 timber worth.
